How to Pay Less for GLP-1 Medications
1. Check your insurance formulary
Many commercial plans now cover Wegovy and Zepbound for weight management. Call the number on your insurance card and ask specifically about anti-obesity medication coverage. Even plans that denied coverage in 2024 may have updated their formularies for 2026.
2. Check manufacturer savings-card terms
Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly publish savings offers for some commercially insured patients. Eligible medication, plan type, benefit amount, annual limit, refill rules, and offer duration vary. Verify the current terms; this calculator does not assume a card price.
3. Consider compounded alternatives
Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide can cost less, but they are not FDA-approved and should not be treated as proven equivalents to the brands. Formulation, sourcing, and pharmacy oversight vary. Verify the patient-specific prescription and dispensing pharmacy; 503B outsourcing facilities are FDA-registered, not FDA-licensed.
4. Check Medicare Bridge eligibility
The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program went live in July 2026 with published costs of approximately $50/mo for eligible beneficiaries. Confirm medication coverage and individual eligibility; this calculator does not treat the Bridge amount as a guaranteed monthly price.
5. Compare telehealth providers
Published prices vary dramatically between telehealth platforms. Compare the ongoing all-in cost, medication and dose, introductory versus renewal price, required commitment, shipping, and clinical support—not just the lowest headline number.
Price Trends: GLP-1 Costs Are Dropping
GLP-1 medication prices have been falling steadily since late 2024. Eli Lilly launched Zepbound self-pay vials at $399/mo (later reduced further). Novo Nordisk responded with competitive pricing. The compounded market has driven prices below $200/mo for many patients.
A major 2026 shift is Medicare coverage, live as of July 2026. The GLP-1 Bridge program provides transitional coverage for Medicare beneficiaries at approximately $50/mo. That's a game changer for the 65+ population that has been largely priced out of these medications. Full Part D coverage for anti-obesity medications is expected to follow. (See our Medicare coverage checker.)
Competition is also increasing. Orforglipron (Eli Lilly's oral GLP-1) is now available as Foundayo, and several new GLP-1/GIP dual agonists are in late-stage trials. More options mean more pricing pressure. Expect costs to continue declining through 2026 and 2027.

Disclaimer: Manufacturer list-price rows use our canonical source checks dated through August 14, 2026; telehealth rows use complete published prices from our provider database. Savings-card amounts, insurance copays, Medicare benefits, introductory prices, and medication-excluding fees are not used in the projection because eligibility, limits, and duration cannot be verified here.
