What is Foundayo (orforglipron)?
Foundayo is the brand name and orforglipron is the medicine: Eli Lilly's once-daily GLP-1 pill for weight management.

- A once-daily oral GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is a non-peptide small molecule, so you take it as a pill with no injection and no meal-timing fast.

- April 1, 2026, for chronic weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related condition. Lilly launched it on April 6, 2026.
- Trial result
- In the ATTAIN-1 Phase 3 trial (3,127 adults with obesity and without diabetes, 72 weeks, NEJM), the highest trial dose of orforglipron (36 mg) produced an 11.2% mean body weight reduction, compared with 2.1% on placebo. Trial doses are not the commercial tablet strengths, and a group average does not predict your own result.
- Outside the US
- The UK's MHRA authorised orforglipron on August 10, 2026 for weight management and type 2 diabetes. That UK licence leaves the US label unchanged: the FDA indication covers chronic weight management only.

In its May 28, 2026 announcement, CVS Caremark removed its new-to-market block on Foundayo from June 1, 2026, "where approved for coverage by plans."
CVS Caremark also added Zepbound back to its commercial formularies as an additional preferred option from October 1, 2026. Your employer or plan sponsor still decides whether you are covered (checked October 15, 2026).

Both start at $149 a month for the medicine. You take Foundayo with no fasting rule around the dose, and you take the Wegovy pill on an empty stomach.

What are Foundayo's side effects?
Foundayo's most common side effects are nausea, diarrhea, constipation and vomiting, as with other GLP-1 medicines.

Foundayo vs the Wegovy pill: which is better?
Neither trial compared them head to head, so your prescriber weighs your history, routine and coverage.
In separate trials, the Wegovy pill (25 mg) averaged a 13.6% weight reduction at week 64 (OASIS 4), and the top orforglipron trial dose 11.2% at week 72 (ATTAIN-1).
Both start at $149 a month for the medicine. Foundayo's price then follows a dose and refill ladder.
You take Foundayo with no fasting rule. You take the Wegovy pill on an empty stomach in the morning with up to 4 ounces of water, then wait at least 30 minutes before food, drink or other oral medicines.
Does Medicare cover Foundayo in 2026?
Through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, eligible Part D enrollees pay $50 a month with prior authorization.

Above 5.5 mg, your prescriber decides whether you go higher, based on how you respond and tolerate each dose. You stay at least 30 days at each strength.
The label caps Foundayo at 17.2 mg a day. LillyDirect prices each 30-day fill by strength, so a step up can change what you pay.
How the label tells you to take it:
- Take one tablet once a day, with or without food.
- Swallow it whole. Do not break, crush or chew it, and never take more than one tablet a day.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can, and do not double the next one.
- If you miss 7 or more doses in a row, the label calls for restarting at a lower dose, so ask your prescriber which strength to restart on.
- If you take a medicine that strongly blocks the enzyme CYP3A4, the label caps Foundayo at 9 mg a day, so give your prescriber your full medicine list.
- If you take birth control pills, the label advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method, for 30 days after you start and for 30 days after each dose increase.
